Why I beleive it is dangerous to abandon the Church: Part 1

As I mentioned in a past FB post I think it is a very dangerous place for a Christian to be….outside the church! Most would think it’s because of so many reasons, like isolation, not using gifts, bad theology, and well the list could go on and on. But the truth is even in the church all of these things can be happening.

So let’s get right to it. My thoughts are based on what I have read and learned from the Scriptures. I have taken many classes, read many books, and listened to many sermons on the book of Revelation. I have come to the conclusion on a few things….

1. It is important what we believe when it comes to the return of Jesus. For years I thought, I taught, I believed it didn’t matter, you know how ever it pans out… I am SAVED. But today I believe that how you believe things will take place is how you will live out your Christianity. The book of Revelation its self tells us that we will be blessed if you READ and UNDERSTAND this book. It’s in the Bible to KNOW, to PREPARE, to have VISION for your life as a Christian and as a CHURCH!!!

I ask people all the time what their stance is and most say they have no stance. I have come to believe this is because most do not know the book….the truth is most have no knowledge. I was a person like this for 20 years of my Christian life.

2. I believe that the Church, Christians will go through the tribulation. That the church is a major player, has a major role in the end times. NOW, many  Christians have end time theology from the movies and books “Left Behind” series and what most do not realize is that they are FICTON books…..not theology!! NOT all hold to this but for the most part many do. They have not read or studied Revelation, they watched and read books about it….(not saying this to offend anyone)

Our job as the body of Christ is to become the “Bride of Christ” – to usher in the return of the Bridegroom JESUS. The church will be a church of HOLINESS, UNITY and incredible POWER during this time leading up to the rapture.

So what does all of this have to do with the danger of forsaking the body of Christ? EVERYTHING!!! The Word tells us that in the end times there will be a great falling away and a great revival. The church will not look as it does now, there is NO doubt about that. The supernatural will become the natural!

I believe we can see this starting to take shape in our world today. The church is being divided right down the middle into two different mind-sets, two different camps and attitudes. It is taking place in social and moral issues in our world. It is taking place in  abortion and in same-sex marriage issues, along with many other things. The body of Christ is being split right down the middle and the fall out looks kind of like this….

Those who go with the tide, the world, the “politically correctness” are viewed as a church that is relevant with the times, up to date and progressive and very LOVING. I mean who doesn’t want to be known as all of these things? And the other side that is viewed as old fashioned, haters, holding back progress, and narrow minded. Who wants to be known as any of these things? Just take a look around and you will see it. Pick up the news, turn on the news and see how the “Christians” are portrayed. And many leaders, denominations are falling into this trap trying to stay relevant and not loose any of their flocks over such things. And then there is the opposite like the people from Westboro church!! These people are doing more damage for the cause of Jesus than anyone!!

The world is changing very rapidly and we need to keep a watch on the events taking place and line them up with the Scriptures. In my opinion the division is really not even about “gay marriage” or “abortion” the actions that are taking place and have taken place over the years have been very well calculated  and planned out and put into action to ANGER people. The war is not over these things…..even though it is made out to be. That is NOT the point.

Back to my main point 🙂  There is a Scripture that is very important and one I think we need to take a very close look at, we need to understand it, and be able to reconcile it in our sprits, minds and hearts. It is a Scripture that most look at and say “that’s not me” But the question that has always burned in my heart is “who are these people?”

Mathew 7:22-23 “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’

Chew on this for a few days…..do you know? do you have an answer?

Part 2 on the way …. SOON!!!!

  1. So I have read this post through a few times. I am still unsure on the train of thought and hope that you elucidate on it in the next post. But as far as the final question: who are these people? I think Jesus answers it in the passage. The people who are going to enter the Kingdom of Heaven are those who do the will of God and those who do the will of God will be known by their fruit. All the rest will be turned away even those who proclaim the gospel but do not have the fruit to bear witness to their words. As Jesus goes on to say hearing his words but not heeding his words is building a house on sand. Many churches out there build houses on the sand because they do not live in love but rather as the hypocrite running around pointing out the faults in others but ignoring the log sticking out of their own eye. This passage in Matthew Seven always brings to mind Matthew 25, the end times passage about Jesus returning in his Glory. It is very clear in that passage those who will be gathered into the Heavenly Kingdom are those who feed the hungry, cloth the naked, and visit the sick and imprisoned. But the key is that those who are called righteous are showing fruit not for the sake of showing fruit but because it stems from their faith. They do it without knowing the results, they ask, “When did we do this Lord?” So if you want to know who the Lawless ones are, they are the ones shouting the loudest but showing no fruit, the ones who are boasting of their righteousness but not living a righteous life.

    1. David… thank you for the response….I have posted this and FB’d it …asked 3 times for responses and as you can see none. I agree with you in this 🙂
I will finish this up soon I hope — I’m sick right now and preaching in a couple weeks plus working 50 hours plus a week. You know REAL LIFE 🙂 — but will get to it soon!!!
